LOCATION & HISTORY
Located in the county of Gloucestershire, it falls under the district of the Cotswolds and is one of the most popular tourist sights in the area. The picturesque cottages of Arlington Row were built in 1380 as a wool store and converted into living accommodation during the 17th century for the weavers. The area is particularly frequented by Japanese tourists as it is claimed that Emperor Hirohito stayed in the village on his European Tour.

THE DRAWING: Artist’s Note
This drawing was a result of my visiting the village many years ago and the delightful cottages of Arlington Row just begged to be drawn! I completed it in 2004 and it took around 45 hours. I love this part of England and I am keen to do a larger drawing of Bibury, in due course, to include much of the scenery around Arlington Row!
